Rafi G's "Life in Israel" blog notes that the popular Israeli singer Sarit Hadad canceled her performance at the Festigal, which is a very significant Israeli performance festival, when she realized that she would be required to perform on Shabbat if she wanted to perform in the Festigal!
This is very impressive coming from someone who is not formally religious. Kol HaKavod to her for honoring the Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest!
